I rented a lens that I am thinking of buying, so I could try it out and get a feel for how it works: Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 OSS II. This is the second generation pro-level zoom lens, and it has been described in very glowing terms by reviewers.
The shot above pretty much proves it’s a great lens—the subject is sharp, the background is nicely blurred, the colors are rich and the details are very detailed.
This was the fourth time I took the lens out for testing; the earlier rounds had been more learning experience than fabulous shots. But I gradually figured it out, and I am very happy with how this lens works.
Not sure yet if I will buy it; it’s not cheap, and there are some alternative lenses (though not exactly the same features) that I need to consider.
But for a week, it’s mine and I’m going to have some fun with it.
Impressive color and detail. Your camera captures a lot more than I can usually see with the naked eye, allowing me to see so much more.
