High water always leaves a mark, and sometimes it leaves relics like this stump, carried down-stream to land in this tree. My legs are not very stable, so kindly dumped where I could get near enough to take a photo!
At first it looked like a bull, then a bird, and finally when I was processing the image I saw that mess of knots bottom center. South Prairie Creek, a couple of miles from my home.
Shot with the Sony 85mm f/1.4 lens on A7R IV camera. 1/800th second, f/1.4, ISO 100.
Technical note: the depth of field at f/1.4 was very limited; I did a focus merge of a second image for the bottom of this image to get more of the important detail in focus. Done in Affinity Photo, which makes such magical things straightforward.
