The camera captured a lot more detail and color than I could see with my eyes. But during this intense period, the red and green colors were extremely obvious by eye, not subdued in brightness at all. The color though was weaker; the human eye has trouble seeing dim colors.
This was true even after my eyes adapted to the low light levels. Green was brighter, which you’d expect based on the response of the human eye. The entire sky was obviously brighter than usual, pretty substantially so.
But the camera really caught the details and the richness of the colors. I was really happy I decided to use the camera—by eye, the display was certainly interesting, but much more subtle.
