Can today's cameras do 'authentic' looking black and white?

Yes.

I’ve converted my share of color photographs taken with modern cameras into black and white shots. None of them, however, have been as satisfying as the shots from the Fuji GFX 100S II camera. See above for the proof.

I mean, I don’t know what I can say in words that the converted photograph doesn’t already say. It was a typical mostly cloudy, when’s it going to start raining again day in the Pacific Northwest. Like a creek in Gondor, Boise creek has an eerie splendor here that I just love.
