This old thing has seen better days, but it sure has a lot of local color.
No later than a 1954; the 1955 stared a run of flatter roofs and curves windshields.
Sony a7R IV with Sigma 105mm lens, f/5.6, 1/400th of a second, ISO 100. I shot this at f/5.6 to get (nearly all of) the truck in focus; the very back edge is a little soft. It still provides some blur in the background to isolate the truck—it has some pretty organic colors that blend in well with winter vegetation.
Here’s a subtly different look; the front grill area is dead sharp, the windshield is still pretty sharp, and the back end of the truck is soft. It has a more romantic period look for me, but I like any and all views of this truck.
This was a very different photo. I put on the Sony 70-200mm lens, and dialed it out to the full zoom of 200mm. I then took nine hand-held shots and assembled the panorama in Photoshop. The final image is massive; the version above has been shrunk down to fit on the internet. Here’s a single frame from the set:
Here’s a detail at 100% full size:
I liked the ¾ view in these shots, but I also felt that the strong horizontal lines of the house behind the track would back a nice background for a more distant shot. I’m torn between slightly distant and actually distant; take your pick. The only downside is that this side of the truck faces north, and was in shade.
That is a beauty! I would have stopped for it as well.
