When we first moved to our current house almost two years ago, this driveway was in an adorable state of disregard: tall weeds down the middle. I thought to myself: I need to get a photo of that, but I never got around to it, the driveway got mowed, and things have never happened that way again.
Yesterday, I noticed that the driveway was a hotbed of dandelions. I thought to myself: I need to get a photo of that, and I need to do it right away.
On my way up the hill today, I pulled over, got out the camera, and as I was taking the first shot of the dandelions, I noticed: hey, there are some little birds there. So I took this shot, with the focus on the birds and nothing else.
As I watched, birds left and more birds came in—always from the side, always into this little dandelion-free zone. So I took more shots, but really, they are all the same shot. Don’t know what kind of seeds or other food was there, but there was plenty of it and these bids were having their fill.
Duly photographed and shared: the endless chain of birds on Dandelion Hill.
Phase One XF camera, with 150mm Schneider-Kreuznach lens with 2x teleconverter. F/11, ISO 100, and 1/500th of a second exposure.
Note: I did a little digging, and I think these birds are white-crowned sparrows.
