Fog Lifting
I pulled onto the highway and saw the fog over the stream rising...had to pull over and get the shot.
The shot above was the first thing I saw—farmland lit by the sun low in the east; above that, fog lifting; and on top, emerging deep blue sky. I did my best to capture it with my Sony A1.
I was fortunate to have my favorite (and right now only) wide-angle lens with me. It’s the Zeiss Biogon 21mm, and it’s perfect for this kind of shot because it has so little distortion. It’s also extremely sharp, capturing every branch of the trees in the distance. It also has a huge depth of field at f/11, which is how I shot this. Everything from the blackberry canes in the foreground to the distant trees is sharp.
I got a few more interesting shots. The stream turns east less than a quarter mile to the east. This two-shot vertical panorama captures the drama of that view.
Finally, I made a horizontal panorama as well, showing the stretch of farmland between the highway and the river, including the old and now little-used cattle buildings.
