I received a new microscope objective for a work project (a beam splitting microscope, for examining the optical quality of the New Mexico telescope), and I wanted to evaluate just how much better it is than the used version I bought a few months ago.
The above shot it a couple of purple-fringed leaves on a weed that was growing just outside my office door. It seems to me that this objective is wonderful—which is what you expect of an objective specifically designed for high resolution in industrial applications.
Here is a 100% crop of that leaf curl at upper center. The level of detail is incredible, and the entire frame is sharp. A really solid performer.
I have a few days to continue ‘testing’ it, and then it goes off to New Mexico for use on the telescope.
