I had my camera set up incorrectly—but still got a decent shot. Never underestimate either one’s ability to screw things up, or for things to somehow sort themselves out in spite of you.
Shot with Sony α1 camera and 200-600 lens, with 1.4x extender. So this was a very long telephoto shot: 840mm. I had the camera’s in-camera image stabilization set way wrong, but got the shot anyway. Out of about 25 shots, it’s one of the few lucky breaks. I was planning to catch the sun moving into the slowly retreating shadows, and you can see just a bit of sun on the horse’s flank. In spite of myself, I wound up with this lovely photo.
Exactly my thoughts. A dramatic warm/cool color scheme basically orange and blue. An appealing photo emotionally as well as technically.
The contrast in colors is about opposite on the color wheel. It's dramatic and really shows off the horse nicely.
