I had been intending to re-shoot the lavender blossoms macro with a different macro setup, and finally did it today. Last effort was with Sony camera and Sigma 105mm lens; this was shot with the Phase One XF camera and 120mm macro lens.
The lens on the Phase One is specifically designed for macro work, and it shows. The image is sharper, I was able to get closer to the subject. In addition, the Phase One camera has built in macro capability: I tell it where to focus, and it takes all the shots between the closest and furthest point in the subject. Very nice, very convenient, and the result is fabulous.
Both lenses are actually really really good; the features of the Phase One setup make it superior for my purposes.
