Moon Shot through Clouds
I saw high thin clouds making a moon halo, but by the time the tripod was set up, thick clouds moved in. I caught a moment with the moon through three layers of clouds.
There are three layers of clouds here, though in this shot only two of them dominate. There was a high layer of cirrus, which caused the moon halo. There were two layers of lower clouds - one at medium elevation, warmly lit (browns and tans); and the was low, with really thick and dark clouds(black and gray).
Shot with Sony a7R IV, Metabones adapter, 2x teleconverter, and 300mm Canon f/2.8—for a net of 600mm of focal length.
I tried to capture the moon halo but my iPhone wasn’t sensitive enough to record it properly.
Amazing shot. The moon seems so close now, like a neighbor. You did capture the beautiful cloud layers.
It was not apparent on my phone but on my laptop I can see an irregular halo around the moon.
