More Photos of Evans Creek
These are from the same day, but from different perspectives and with some careful processing (digital development)
This is the same creek I photographed yesterday, a photo take a little earlier in the day than the previously posted photographs. This was shot with the medium format camera, and has incredible detail (although I can’t show you all the detail; the image above is half-sized so it will fit within the 25MB limit of the blog site I use, Substack).
Even so, if you click on the image to open it in a new window, and then click again to enlarge it, you will see a lot of detail in the rocks, trees, and plants. This kind of detail and excellent color is why I take the time and trouble to shoot in medium format.
The exposure was taken through a neutral density filter (a seemingly black filter that blocks nearly all of the light coming into the camera) so I can take really long exposures to smear the ripples in the water to get the cool look you see above. This exposure was at ISO 50, for 30 seconds, at f/8. It was deliberately underexposed to avoid over-exposing the brighter water, which left the trees and other vegetation quite dark. I increased the brightness of the darker areas to make the photograph look similar to the actual conditions (overcast with light rain).
The camera was covered in drops of rain by the time I was finished, but it’s apparently waterproof as it is still working today.
Yesterday’s photo with the medium format camera included some very close vegetation that was blurred and out of focus; I felt that distracted from the result. In this shot, the camera was above the vegetation and to the left of it, and the near details are very sharp owing to the small aperture.
