Mt. Rainier at Sunset
You never know what you'll get on the mountain after sunset; it's all about clouds over the Pacific Ocean.
I took some nice images of Mt. Rainier yesterday before sunset (the Golden Hour it’s called, when everything takes on a warm tinge), but I deleted them without thinking about what I was deleting. So I was determined to get out today to see if I could get some nice shots before sunset.
But I was late, the sun had already set; there was still some light on the mountain so I pulled over, rolled down the window, and hoped for the best.
Oh boy. The mountain just got redder and redder over the next 10 minutes or so (I lost track of time). This was the maximum color of the sunset.
Shot with Sony a7r IV and Sigma 105mm f/1.4 lens. Shot at ISO 100, 1/640th, f/2.0.
Three minutes later, it was over:
Absolutely phenomenal. Lighting outdoors is a constantly changing variable that is challenging and so rewarding when it's perfect. This is perfection.
