Mt. Rainier at Sunset
The mountain played King this evening, with truly excessive, exquisite raiment.
Some wild clouds around Rainier about an hour before sunset. The clouds grew pretty fast after this shot; a half hour later, the mountain was completely shrouded.
Shot with Sony α1 and Zeiss Otus 100mm lens.
Here’s another view about the same time, with a different lens. It shows how rapidly the clouds were evolving. This is a five-shot panorama with the Canon 200mm f/2 lens.
Both of these are outstanding, sharp lenses. Interesting to see the ways in which they render the view a little differently. The foreground is darker in the second photograph because the sunlight on the foreground was blocked by clouds.
