Mt. Rainier from Orting, WA
Orting calls itself the little town with a big view; we put that claim to the test.
As the photo shows, Orting has a great view of Mt. Rainier. The location I chose for the shot does have a few other items in the view—light standards, roads, fences, homes—but other parts of Orting have overhead wires, multi-story buildings, and other things in the way of the view. But pretty much whoever you stand, if you don’t see Mt. Rainier, move about 20’ and you’ll see a good piece of it.
Our result: it’s TRUE! Orting has wonderful views of Mt. Rainier. But as it gets more and more built up, it requires a little more creativity to get a great view. Or, just stop by the middle school.
Photo with Sony α1 and Canon 85mm f/1.2 lens (with Metabones adapter). I love the natural look of photos taken with that lens. The clouds cooperated very well on the shot.
A more typical view of Rainier in Orting looks like this:
Still, not too bad. My brain filters out the junk and I see nothing but mountain, baby. :)
