Mt. Rainier in the Morning
The sun is now high enough in the sky to illuminate the mountain in the mornings.
We have had a lot of rainy days lately, so I was determined to get out and shoot the mountain this morning even though it’s a holiday. I took Donna and Lily with me; they walked around while I got a few photos.
This was the first shot I took: deliberately underexposed for the farmland, and only slightly overexposed on the mountain. ISO 50, 1/400th, f/8. Not much editing: brighten up the foreground a little bit, adjust color balance.
I left the reground a little dark, to emphasize just how far away the mountain is, probably around 25 miles from that spot. The distance fades contrast in the mountain, but the clear air after weeks of rain makes it very visible.
