Mt. Rainier on a Cold, Crisp Day
After the endless rain and dark clouds, we had a bright sunny day
Today was a good-as-it-gets-in-Seattle day. Bright blue skies, endless sun, and you could see for miles and miles. A few sunny-day clouds around Rainier, but the air was clean and clear and revealed amazing detail on the mountain.
I suggest you click to open the image above in a new window and view it at 100%; you’ll see five eagles circling to the right of the mountain.
Taken with the Sony α1 and Canon FD 300mm lens. That lens is about 50 years old, but it performs amazingly well. This is a panorama made from six images. The camera was on its side on the tripod, and I simply swung the tripod to get the entire mountain in the shot. This works with long, telephoto lenses; with wider lenses, the edges start to get compressed. This is one of my personal favorite shots of Mt. Rainier.
