This was made with the Canon 85mm lens on the Sony α1 camera. I took a new photograph every 15 seconds, and then later I combined them into a timelapse video using Adobe Rush. The video is available in SD, HD, and 4K.
The vantage point here is one of my favorites, a hillside overlooking a dairy farm (you can see the cows moving around in the timelapse) east of Graham, WA.
There are several phases of the sunset here: a primary one, where the direct sunlight on the mountain reddens and the brightness moves to just the top; then a brief gray phase, where distant clouds block the sun, then another, slightly slower fade also with reddening, which is a combination of direct light and reflection of sunlight off of the Pacific Ocean (I presume; I’ve seen that effect before). The sky changes color as well, getting darker, redder, then bluer, then grey.
