I’ve been wanting to get this shot for a couple of months. I had no idea there was a gap in the trees along this road; most of the year, the view is blocked either by leaves on the deciduous trees, or clouds.
I spotted it in late fall, when the leaves had fallen, but I wasn’t sure where I could park my car so I could walk to the location. Today, I worked it all out and got this nicely framed photo.
Sony A7r IV, with a Sigma 105mm f/1.4 lens. Shot as a vertical panorama (to get more foreground material); ISO 100, f/2 (to blur the foreground), 1/8000th second (it was a bright day!).
I reduced the haze in the sky/mountains, which draws the mountain closer, and desaturated the atmospheric blue tones to improve the contrast. One of my personal favorites of Rainier.
I can see why it’s a personal favorite. The detail on the mountain itself is mine boggling. A painters dream. Beautifully done.
Great depth.
