You need crags? We got your crags. Cliffs? Outcrops? Snow ledges, avalanches, rockfalls? All right here.
Mt. Rainier from about 20 miles away in Enumclaw, WA. Shot with Sony α1 camera and 70-200mm lens at 200mm.
Just a few weeks ago, the mountain was mostly white with snow. We had a heat wave last week, and snow melt combined with avalanches has stripped a lot of the rock bare. As you can see at upper left, the snow pack was really thick this year (crazy wet winter), but it might just be that the weight of thicker snow makes it fall all the faster.
The image has been processed to remove some of the atmospheric blue from those 20 miles of air…
A knock out photo. I came up huge on my desktop. Talk about detail you cannot see with the naked eye.
