Northwest Forest Light
I love being on the edge of a thick forest. This creek emerging from the forest was a perfect spot for a photo.
I love to get near water and shoot some photographs, but my mobility is not anywhere near where it used to be. I found a rocky bank next to a bridge across Wilkeson Creek, and I slowly worked my way down to the water. Happiness!
I took over a hundred photos, mostly because I knew it might be a while before I’d get crazy enough to try this again. This is a panorama made up of three photographs I took on the north side of the bridge. Taken with Sony and Tokina 17-28mm at 17mm focal length. I took underexposed shots to retain detail in the sky, and then brightened the trees and creek during processing at home to maintain the sculptural feel of this spot: deep, dark shadows in the cypress trees on the left, medium brightness in the leafless part of the forest, and bright sky and reflections of the sky on the water.
When I was there in person, the area had the feel of being right on the edge of dark, wet, heavy Pacific Northwest forest, and I am happy that the photo captured that feeling.
