Olympic Mountains from the Cascade Range
Proving, I suppose, that on a clear day you really can see forever...
I followed a winding road up to an outcrop on a ridge, and was really taken with this view of the Puget Sound. The water in the foreground is the Puyallup River. The Olympic Mountains are in the distance. In summer, haze would pretty much kill this view, but the crisp winter air was perfect.
I took the shot with a 135mm Fuji large-format lens adapted to my medium format camera. This is a two-shot panorama. The level of detail is amazing; here is a blow-up of a small portion of the image, showing Mt. Olympus, the highest point in the Olympic Mountains.
