Sometimes I just drive around the countryside, looking for interesting things to photograph. I braked hard to ‘pull over’ to take this shot.
(I put ‘pull over’ in quotes because everyone around here knows you can’t pull over on any of the back roads. They have huge deep gullies for the endless rain to wash away in.)
You just have to stop, put on your flashers, and do what you have to do. Don’t do it near a corner though, or the locals will let you know how stupid it is to block line of sight there.
Technical info: I underexposed this by about one stop, in order to make darn sure that the no part of the mountain was overexposed. I then brought it back to normal from the bottom up: blacks first, then shadows. It gives the field a nice, warm look. It was hazy, but the barn ws close enough to retain its rich, red color.
Sony A7r IV and 50mm f/1.2 lens. Shot at f/2.5 (so that both the mountain and the barn were sharp) and 1/8000th second (damn but it was a bright day) at ISO 100. The lens is so sharp that I can see every leaf on those trees in the middle distance in the original.
Country life. I love it!
