I drove to Seattle this morning to pick up a new lens (rented) for testing. It is the Zeiss Otus 100mm f/1.4 - a very fast-aperture lens with a reputation for incredible sharpness at every aperture; I just had to try it out for a few days.
Donna came with me (I love having a co-pilot on long drives, and Donna is great company), and we stopped at Anthony’s in Des Moines (pronounced dess-moyns) for some seafood; it was a real treat. While Donna took Lily for a bathroom break, I took a little stroll down by the water to get a shot of the sailboats in the marina. It was foggy, as you can see a little in the photo—there are islands and other land across the water, and they are invisible in the fog.
I played around with the photo; here are a few versions that resulted. The natural look above was my starting point.
I like all of these variations; each captures a different feeling. When it comes to water, boats, and fog, with everything changing by the minute, there isn’t just one way of looking at the scenery.
Love the glass like reflections in the water. Apparently blue is popular there.
