Second day of smoke in the lowlands around Seattle. There is at least one big fire to our east, just the other side of Mt. Rainier. Air quality has been “moderate” but both Donna and I have asthma and it doesn’t feel moderate at all. We are spending most of our time indoors, and running the house fan 100% of the time (a recirculating filter arrangement, so it does improve the air quality). We also have a couple of air purifiers helping out.
I’ve lived most of my adult life in the northwest; never had to deal with smoke. Suddenly, it’s an annual thing.
I’m frightened, there’s no denying it. The density of the smoke down low is very obvious; compare the image above, with so much of the sunlight extinguished, to a photo just 10 minutes earlier, a little higher up:
Big sigh. Yep, me too. Smoke was not part of my childhood in The Pacific Northwest. We are in hard times on many levels. None the less, a very nice photo documenting your experience. Art saves lives, just keep making art! Smoke in Ellensburg too but not nearly as bad.
