Spring Is Sprung
Copious numbers of solar-originated photons were pounding down along the Carbon River today.
Long story short: with only 15 minutes to take photos, I took the Big Iron setup to the Carbon River below Orting, and got a few photos. This one is looking north near where the Foothills Trail Bridge crosses Higher 162.
This is a vertical panorama of two shots, using shift on the Phase One Actus setup. (I can slide the front end of the camera up/down or left/right to change the view; possible because the lens is for a big 4x5 camera.)
One of these days I need to take a few photos of that setup to show how it works. It’s fantastic for taking seamless panoramas.
This was shot at f/16 using the Schneider-Kreuznach 72mm Super-Angulon XL. That lens is a mainstay of wide-angle photography on large-format cameras, but with the Actus camera I can use it with the medium format Phase One back. (techno-babble, I know!).
Temperatures were in the mid 50s and it finally feels a bit like spring here.
