Sunlight on the Carbon River
Welcome fall colors after the big storm
The day after the big storm, rivers and streams were already at lower water. This is the Carbon River between South Prairie and Orting; the spot where I was standing was a few feet above the water level, and had marks of heavy flow on it.
The sky broke open here and there; a shaft of sunlight lit up the fall colors right in front of me while I was hiking along the river.
The water is a curious mix of colors: blue from the sky, and red mud from all the loose soil scoured up by the heavy flow.
