All, or nearly all, of the seasonal snow has melted on Mt. Rainier, and it’s just the beginning of August. The hottest days have yet to arrive.
What remains are the glaciers, and some north-facing heavy snow accumulations at the highest elevations.
This photo, taken with the Canon 200mm F/2 lens on the Sony A1 camera, has amazing sharpness and detail. Easy to get lost!!
I also shot some panoramas, partly for the challenge and partly to show you the view from the location in Graham, WA where I usually photograph the mountain from. The native size of the one below is about 12 x 4 feet. Anyone have a giant wall that needs a mural of Mt. Rainier?
The photo has been resized so that it can be uploaded to this site—the maximum image size is 16MB; the original is nearly 3GB.
I like the foreground vs background contrast! Nice!
