The Old McMillin Railroad Bridge
Now part of the Foothills Trail
There are a lot of Rails to Trails around the Seattle area, and most of them are heavily used. This bridge, part of the long Foothills trail that runs from Enumclaw to Puyallup, has been a favorite of mine for this last year. I’ve been photographing it in different seasons; the character of the area changes with the time of year.
This is the late winter look: much less foliage, a rare sunny day. I thought that black and white was the way to go because there’s really very little color in the area this time of year.
But the sky changed with growing clouds, and became quite dramatic:
And it needed a color shot to do it justice. Both images were shot with the 21mm Biogon lens (a rangefinder lens modified to come to focus on the Sony), a favorite for its awesome sharpness.
