To the Ducks!
Let's raise a toast (or at the least, some half-rotted water weeds) to the ducks of our ponds...
I Came, I Saw, I Snapped
I took my camera to the lake
tho’ I knew, ‘shooting’ ducks was no cake-
walk. With largest photo artillery in hand,
I scanned the waters from the land’s
edge. Certain, there were, ducks a-plenty,
the problem was a-where they wenty:
To the middle they had swum,
wiggling their bright-color bums
in the gloomy gray of Seattle weather.
Even with lens of zoom, couldn’t make out a feather.
Cursing my fate, I raised my lens anyway,
it didn’t matter, I’d patiently try to win the day.
Ere long, fingers freezing, eyes watering in the wind,
a mallard couple showed me some kind-
ness, approached closely, nibbled rotted weeds
while I attempted brave, mind-shattering artful deeds.
“Put finger to the shutter!” I cried,
the ducks just sighed,
I clicked and clicked,
it wasn’t that much of a tricked,
the photons flew
the ducks stay put, too.
So here I present
Photos, with mild lament:
I got me some ducks
It was no small lucks.
