I have been keeping an eye out for interesting waterways, by which I mean big enough to move some trees around at high water, but small enough to be readily accessible from a nearby road. My legs are not all that strong these days, so I need an easy hike to the places I photograph.
This is about 100 yards from a pull-over at Wilkeson Creek County Park. Don’t let the name fool you; it’s just some woods and a creek, no improvements beyond the pull-over and some very rudimentary foot paths.
A really beautiful creek, however. I took a drive out there this morning after looking for possibilities on maps and satellite photos. It’s just a few miles from home, in a deeply rural area with fallen-down barns and active small family farms.
Technical info: Shot with the widest lens yet on the digital back, a 24mm Canon lens. It has just large enough of an image circle to fit on the phase one sensor. Unlike most 35mm lenses, it has tilt/shift built into it, and the extra image circle for that is just enough (without the tilting and shifting) for my setup.
Here’s another view, about 20 yards further upstream.
Beautiful compositions.
