I have an advanced commercial camera in hand for testing for the weekend. It’s a 150 megapixel camera; the upgraded version of the medium format camera I have now.
I expected the high pixel count to be the cool thing about it, but it’s really not the main feature I like; it’s not even in the top ten things I like.
But back to the photo. We are going through an extended dry spell, and many of the creeks are running very low. This is Wilkeson Creek, just below the little town it’s named for. Check out the rotatory on the left under the log. This time exposure shows the path of the water in a nearly perfect circle.
Here’s a closer look at it:
Note: although this looks like a standard time exposure, it’s actually a ‘frame averaged’ exposure. The camera has a cool feature: instead of needing to put a neutral density filter on the lens to cut down light for a long exposure, it takes a large number of short exposures and combines them. Similar result, automated and without the fuss. Love it!
