When I looked at this photograph, it only took a moment to recognize what it reminded me of. The dark background, the sunlit roses—classic themes of Dutch flower paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.

These rose bushes are on the south side of our house. They get lots of sun, and grow dense with flowers for several months. Even withered, as here, they are always beautiful.
You were right about the Dutch painters. Particularly beautiful photograph. I hope your frame some of these - that one is moody, pensive.
