I'm even afraid of my titles...so much so that I haven't sent out a couple of manuscripts because I can't find the right name for them. I could just call them Book 1 and Book 2, but that sounds a lot like Dr. Seuss.
I have no idea what the rules are for titles - but I think in a pinch any title will do, since I don't think it would stop some one from reading the first bits, at least, of something that's been submitted to them. If a book is being shopped, I suppose one could use "Book x" as the title and it wouldn't hurt anything. I suspect that publisher's marketing departments may have some say about one's title--I can't say that, so far, any of the WIPs have a title I feel is strong enough to fight over. ;)
