I not used to dark-eyed Juncos looking as colorful (and light headed) as this one. Between the observatory area in New Mexico and the Seattle area, I though this is what all dark-eyed Juncos looked like:
(However, the Juncos in NM are much larger and longer.)
Obviously we have some well-fed Juncos around our house. Here’s one that I captured in a three-photo series, jumping from one branch to another. I merged the individual photos into a single image in Photoshop:
I’m working at improving my skills to be able to catch the small birds at our feeders in flight. Not there yet…will have to settle for the jumper for now.

I love this sweet series of Junkos. I rarely paint them as I cannot get a good closeup shot either. They are so active and quick.
