Old Railroad Tracks
When I look at the ripple in the rails, hard to believe trains still use this stretch of track...
This old, bent railroad line seemed to beg for a black and white photo. It’s hard to believe it’s still in use, but there are fresh wheel-marks on the rails; they only have light rust. Has got to be a slow speed limit…
Shot with my favorite lens, the Canon 85mm f/1.2. The foreground is not focused, which was a deliberate creative choice but…didn’t work as well as I would have liked. When I increased the contrast on the rails, the rest of the image seemed to pop into focus.
Here’s the same photo in color:
I’m torn between the two versions; both represent the tracks well. I think it’s a toss-up.
Kinda spooky if you ask me.
I prefer the dark black and white photo and viewing it large made a big difference. This photo has mystery and nostalgia. The light across the tracks, a gift to the photographer. This is right up there with my favorites.
